“Ocean Acidification for the Utterly Confused”
Dr. Joanie Kleypas
Institute for the Study of Society and Environment
National Center for Atmospheric Research
In addition to global warming and climate change, increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide also causes "ocean acidification," or changes in seawater chemistry, which is already affecting the world oceans. This talk presents ocean acidification in simple terms, gives honest statements of what we do and don't know about its effects on marine life, and addresses various myths and misunderstandings, particularly those often seen in public blogs.
